WYATT D HAMLIN
On February 25th 2022, We picked up Wyatt from daycare unresponsive. We rushed him to the ER where he was then airlifted to Madison. After hours of waiting, we were informed of the most horrifying diagnosis. It was believed Wyatt had been shaken at some point after we dropped him off and by the time we were notified of anything being wrong, his brain damage was too severe and he would not regain consciousness.
We spent 4 days holding our son’s hand as several tests were completed to confirm the early suspicions that in fact, our precious 4 month old baby had been shaken, which was later explained to us as one of the most severe cases the staff had seen. He had zero chance of quality of life so we were faced with the unimaginable decision to remove Wyatt from life support.
We held our baby boy for 6 hours before he passed away at 10:56 on March 1, 2022.We Still don’t understand how this could possibly happen to the sweetest & easiest baby to care for. Wyatt was known for his beaming smile especially in the mornings.
We have a long road to Justice and as new details emerge, it becomes even more gut wrenching. We have since learned neglect was a common occurrence. We want to turn this horrible experience into an opportunity to raise awareness and encourage people to speak up sooner.

On April 5, 2024 Joanna Ford was given a plea deal. She is serving 11 years in prison for the death of Wyatt.

OUR MISSION
At Wyatt’s Warriors, our mission is to advocate for the safety and well-being of children by raising awareness about child abuse and supporting those affected by it. Although we lost our son to child abuse, our efforts extend to all families who have experienced the devastating loss of a child, as we deeply understand the pain of such a tragedy. We raise funds to provide an annual scholarship for students pursuing careers in criminal justice, social services, early childhood education, and pediatric nursing. Additionally, we offer financial assistance to victims of child abuse and their families, as well as support for funeral expenses in all cases of child loss. We are also proud to sponsor families to attend a child loss retreat at Faith's Lodge, providing a healing space for those in need. Through our collective efforts, we empower communities to take action, break the silence, offer hope, and create a safer, more compassionate world for every child and family
